About this database

pictonfood answers one question: what dishes can you get in Picton, New Zealand, and what do they cost? It's a menu and price database, not a venue guide — it doesn't cover hours, addresses or which place to choose.

How a price gets on this site

Every dish is checked against a real source before it appears: a venue's own printed or online menu, or a photo taken in-store. Each dish carries the date it was last checked and where the price came from. Anything checked more than 90 days ago is marked as possibly out of date rather than silently trusted.

What this site will never do

• Invent a dish, a price, or a dietary claim for a real business.
• Copy text from menu-aggregator or review sites.
• Rank, rate, or say one venue is better or cheaper than another. Prices can be sorted low-to-high because that's a neutral fact you're choosing to view — the page itself never editorialises about the order.

Empty is a valid state

A venue with no dishes listed here doesn't mean it has nothing worth eating — it means nobody has verified its menu yet. That's shown plainly rather than papered over with a guess.
